My books are different to sketchbooks, as they are not preliminary drawings for finished pieces.
They are 'things' in themselves. They are like visual chitchat, not highbrow or necessarily beautiful. They are observations, snippets and storytelling.
They can sometimes tell a narrative, when I work in black and white comic strip drawings, but often sometimes they don't make sense to anyone apart from me.
"When you’re an artist, nobody ever tells you or hits you with the magic wand oflegitimacy. You have to hit your own head with your own handmade wand. And you feel stupid doing it.” ― Amanda Palmer, The Art of Asking
